2022 Small Business Development Mini Grants

A New Catalyst to transform from the inside out

Chamberbrook Business & Arts District-RVA invites you to submit an application for your new or small business that can help your brand grow in the Chamberbrook Corridor. This grant program is designed to make tangible improvements to new and small businesses in the Chamberbrook Corridor that jump start long-term economic change. 

Applications are DUE ON or BEFORE:  March 27, 2022, 5:00 PM ET (17:00 PM ET)

Late applications will not be accepted, reviewed or considered for award. 


Funding Focus Areas

Proposals should address one or more of the following general focus areas.


Focus Area 1 - Transformative Placemaking 

Placemaking and collective market and brand activation of your business that targets resident local associations, business and industrial districts, resident related services/programs


Focus Area 2 - Economic Development

For businesses interested in footprint expansion through the Chamberbrook weekly market, monthly night market and e-commerce platforms. The program offers unique and valuable business and marketing assistance.


Focus Area 3 - Strengthen Community Relationships through Art

Creating a unique sense of place through community art projects that are rooted in community, history, and culture. Art projects must focus on sustainability and/or conservation work on locally significant intellectual and cultural artifacts and historic structures and sites. Intellectual and cultural artifacts include objects, collections, sculpture, and works of art.


Funding Restrictions:

In general, Chamberbrook Business and Arts District will not make grants for the following purposes: 

  • Programs outside of the Chamberbrook Corridor;
  • Business or Personal Debt and Tax Debt;
  • Fundraising events;
  • Endowment funds; or
  • Lobbying

Chamberbook Communities are sustainable destination developments that address infrastructure, economics and ecology in local communities through innovative engagement, local investment, arts and culture.


Funding Eligibility 

To qualify for a grant from the Chamberbrook Business and Arts District applicants must participate in the Chamberbrook Business & Arts District Market Ambassador and Business Development Training Program. Training completion is required for ALL award recipients.  Up to 5 grant recipients will be announced on April 4, 2022.  Partial awards will be issued upon completion of market planning and training in May 2022.  The final award will be issued at the end of the Marker Season, October 2022.


Overview

The Chamberbrook Business & Arts District provides resources, information, and best practices to support sustainable destination developments by addressing infrastructure, economics and ecology in local communities. Through its forums for dialogue, collaboration, advocacy, economic development, Chamberbrook engages international entrepreneurs, artists, business owners and all neighbors who are interested in building community.

 

The 2022 Award eligibility guidelines are:

  • Commitment to training in market ambassador and business development for business administrative requirements and place making in Chamberbrook. 

  • Commitment to active participation in Chamberbrook Business and Arts District planning and implementation

  • Commitment to active vendor participation in the Market and Night Market @Chamberbrook

Awards will be announced on April 4, 2022. 


Award recipients will receive the following support through December 2022:

  • $5000 grant award to support marketing and business development admin for inclusion in Chamberbrook Business and Arts District planning and implementation.


  • A formal award (including certificates of partnership)


  • Business featured in the Market and NightMarket @Chamberbrook Division’s digital media and promotional materials


  • Market and Night Market vendor space and e-commerce platform support
